About Belinda Lauer

Belinda Lauer is a LISW-S in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. She works with individuals (adolescents and adults) and couples. Many of Belinda Lauer’s clients come in when they are done feeling uncomfortable with their lives or don’t know how to change self-defeating patterns. Belinda is particularly passionate about serving those who feel like nothing will ever change even though they wish it could. She has advanced training in the area of restoring relationships; helping clients restore their relationship to self or to significant others.

Belinda Lauer is trained in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples (EFT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Eye Movement Integration (EMI), and Hypnotherapy. Each of these approaches offer a different understanding of a client’s struggle. She will tailor the work to match the struggle and comfort level of the client/s. In session, Belinda focuses on the current presentation of the client’s struggle and what about the struggle feels the most distressing. This approach supports clients to work through issues that are most important to them in the most efficient way possible.

Belinda’s style is warm and interpersonal. When a client first comes in, she will gain an understanding of what the client is experiencing, how it disrupts the client’s life, how the client is managing and what the client hopes can change. Belinda will become a cocreator of client’s new story about the self. She is dedicated to providing a relationship that is warm and supportive but challenging to the client’s status quo. She is safe and compassionate but encouraging toward the exploration of what the client avoids.

Belinda Lauer received her MSSA at Case Western Reserve University. She gained experience at Humanistic Counseling Center (Beachwood, OH), The Mentor Network (Independence, OH), Crossroads Lake County Adolescent Counseling Services (Mentor, OH), Serenity Behavioral Health Systems (Augusta, GA), Child Enrichment Center (Augusta, GA), and North Suffolk Mental Health Association (Boston, MA) which enables her to draw from over 20 years of experience in the mental health field. Outside of private practice, she enjoys kayaking, music, art and chasing her beagle through the woods.

*She doesn’t really enjoy chasing the beagle but she does it often enough it could be considered a hobby 😊
