Guided by Emotionally Focused Family Therapy, my short term approach to family therapy is geared to reducing distress between family members. My work is to identify communication that keeps family members in loops of conflict and create new ways of understanding so that emotions are better understood and better managed. Better family interactions allow us to feel more secure and the family becomes a safe haven and not a place of struggle and sadness.
